EXPERIENCE: Managing Time In University

Hello everyone. Welcome to another sharing session for Experience series. Today's topic will be on "Managing Time In University".

Some of you might be in the first semester and still do not familiar with the life in university. There are so many deadlines. You might be in a situation where the submission of two different assignments are on the same date.

For me, I think the moment I started to feel that I didn't have much time to complete all the assignments/tasks is during my degree life specifically, third year of degree. So, how can we manage our time so that we can complete all the tasks given on time or earlier? Let's me share with you how I did that.

First of all, I love to list all the tasks need to be done for the whole semester. The tasks include but not limited to assignment, tutorial, quiz and midterm test. You may refer to the teaching plan to check for the submission dates of your tasks.

After you have the list, start to assign level of priority for each task. There are many factors need to be taken into consideration when assigning the priority such as the submission date, the difficulty of the task, the mark distribution for the subject and the mode of assessment (group or individual). For example, a task that requires a few weeks to be done should be started first compared to a task that can be done in few hours.

Besides, multitasking is very helpful in completing all your tasks on time. If you stuck somewhere when doing a task, take a break from that task for a while. Move to other task(s) while you are trying to figure out the solution for the problems. Make a small progress is always better than no progress at all.

Apart from that, utilise your free time to complete your tasks even though the dateline is still far. This is because you might be in unavoidable situation and unable to complete the tasks. For instance, you do not know whether you will get sick or have any emergency matter on the submission day. Therefore, it is always good to complete your tasks earlier.

However, although you already plan your schedule well, you need to be alert of any changes done by your lecturer. Sometimes the lecturer wants to change the submission date. If this situation happens, you may need to make some changes in your plan.

To be honest, life in university is not easy. There are so many things need to be done but with limited amount of time. Hence, it is crucial for you to manage your time wisely.

I hope that my sharing is useful and helpful for you. All the best for your journey in university. Feel free to ask any question related to the topic in the comment section below. Thank you for visiting The Wonderful Jannah😊. See you in the next entry.
